Commit Full Support to the Labor 2026 Program

WHEREAS, the outcome of the 2026 elections for Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of the State, State Treasurer, State Comptroller, U.S. House of Representatives and the Connecticut General Assembly will determine if and how the economic and policy priorities of working people will be effectively addressed, and


WHEREAS, the Connecticut AFL-CIO’s labor-to-labor political program has proven to be effective in mobilizing union households to vote in such large numbers as to equal at least 20% of the total votes cast, and


WHEREAS, the Connecticut AFL-CIO’s intensive labor-to-labor program, over past election cycles, has unequivocally helped elect candidates, including dozens of union members, who are committed to supporting working people, and


WHEREAS, the Connecticut AFL-CIO has developed a comprehensive member-to-member Labor 2026 plan to elect pro-worker, pro-union candidates and is dedicating its staff and resources to supporting its affiliates in executing the program, and


WHEREAS, the Connecticut AFL-CIO Executive Board members have each committed to completing at least three canvassing and/or phone banking shifts during the Labor 2026 campaign, so


THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Connecticut AFL-CIO and its affiliates commit themselves to a labor-to-labor program in 2026 that will include:

  • A Labor 2026 coordinator from each local union;

  • A commitment from each local union to mobilize one percent of its membership to complete phone bank and canvassing shifts;

  • Member-to-member worksite contact and leaflet distribution;

  • Distribution of local union mail to members and households;

  • Amplifying the labor-to-labor program and relevant issues through union newsletters, emails, text messaging and social media;

  • Registering members to vote who are currently unregistered; and

  • Educating members about the option to vote early and by absentee ballot; and


BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Connecticut AFL-CIO holds labor’s endorsed candidates accountable after the election.
